Let's get Shabby challenge 7

Well I have really struggled to come up with something for this challenge. It was only on Saturday that I found the little birdhouse Christmas trimmings in B and Q for 10p each, and thought that with a bit of altering, they might make cute little beach huts. Here they are now,

and this was how they looked when I bought them. The birds and circle were 'engraved' into the clay, si I covered the front with texture paste to level it all off, then stippled it to give it texture.
I gave the 'beach huts' a coat of white acrylic and then painted the roofs pale grey and antiqued them with copper, wiping it back to create a weathered look.

The doors were made of strips of card, stuck side by side onta card, and painted with Ranger crackle paints, which was antiqued further by dry brushing over with white acrylic. I finished them off by adding brads as door handles. The flags are cocktail sticks, topped with a gold bead, and tissue paper or fabric flags which I painted with watered down acrlic paint.

I added 'name plaques' out of corrugated card, and prepared a long base to mount the beach huts onto by just smooshing blue, yellow and white paint randomly, with a baby wipe onto a scrap of grey board. I used a rough gardening string as a hanger and finished by adding the words, 'wish you were here'.

It's been hard to take any reasonable photo's due to the lack of light and length of the piece, but it will give you the idea.
The photo's might improve soon, hopefully, as I am starting a course at Grimsby college on Wednesday. Just hope it's more me than the flower arranging last term lol.........
